Guest Info & FAQs.
Everything you need to know before your hunt — what to bring, how booking works, and what to expect from the crew.
What to expect in the field.
Where We Hunt
All hunts are based out of the Texas Panhandle, working private and leased ground in the Amarillo and Lubbock corridor. Exact meet-up location is confirmed when you book.
What To Bring
A current Texas hunting license, federal duck stamp (waterfowl), HIP certification, your shotgun, non-toxic shot for waterfowl/crane (lead OK for dove), weather-appropriate clothing, and your sense of humor.
What We Provide
Guided service, decoy spreads, blinds and concealment, calling, bird care after the hunt, and on-the-water coaching for new hunters.
Before you book.
What hunts do you offer?
Guided sandhill crane, dove, duck, and goose. All 1-day services. Crane is up to 10 hunters. Duck and goose are 4-man group packages. Dove is no minimum — solo-friendly.
When is the season for each bird?
Seasons follow Texas Parks & Wildlife regulations: dove typically opens early September, crane around November (TX-2 zone), duck and goose through fall and winter. Contact us for the current season dates and best windows for the bird you want to hunt.
How do I book?
Use the booking widget on any hunt page — pick your date, lock it in. You can also call us at (806) 678-4361 or send a note through the contact form.
What's the deposit and cancellation policy?
Deposits and cancellation specifics are handled through Mallard Bay at booking. Call us if you have questions about a particular date before you book.
Do I need a license?
Yes — every hunter needs a current Texas hunting license and HIP certification. Waterfowl hunters also need a federal duck stamp. We don't sell licenses; pick yours up through Texas Parks & Wildlife before the hunt.
What about kids and new hunters?
Bring 'em. We love teaching new hunters and we have a patient crew that enjoys the coaching as much as the calling. Kids hunt at standard Texas regulations.
What ammo should I bring?
Non-toxic shot is required for waterfowl and crane (steel, bismuth, tungsten — no lead). For dove, lead shot is allowed. Bring more shells than you think you'll need.
Is lodging included?
Our hunts are guided day hunts — lodging is on your end. We can recommend places to stay in Amarillo, Lubbock, and Canyon when you book.
Are tips expected?
Tips for the guides are appreciated when the day calls for it — never expected, never required.
